Working Women
A series of portrait relief carvings of contemporary women who have achieved success in their professional fields. The confidence, courage and self-knowledge achieved in fortunate segments of their generation (born 1960’s) was only imagined, but hardly known to their grandmother's generation, and their children will carry forward the example. The portraits act as witness rather than idealisation.
Where the fragment format is used, it suggests the conceivable part of an unknowable whole.
These portraits are of friends , representing themselves but also the archetype of their potential.
Bas-relief carvings in marble (Carrara Statuario) and fine grained Sandstone .
